Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has suggested there are three players going all out to help their teammates at the moment.
Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has revealed in the Sunderland Echo the three players he feels are making life easier for the rest of the team.
Sunderland secured a vital win against Newcastle United over the Easter weekend and the boss has been left purring over Jermain Defoe, Steven Fletcher and Connor Wickham, who he feels have been superb at the top of the team.
“Fletcher played so excellent against Newcastle, had some possibilities, but unfortunately could not score,” said the boss.
“The way the three up front worked made it so easy for the midfield and the rest. Jermain is a special player and the way he scored the goal was really brilliant.”
The comments are encouraging for a number of reasons but mainly because they show a collective will from the front three at Sunderland to work hard for the benefit of the team.
It’s significant that the players are working hard for each other because that’s one of the only ways that Sunderland are going to continue climbing up the table.
The pressure shifts onto Aston Villa and QPR this evening and Advocaat’s job is to keep everyone fresh, keep the positive mentality drilled into the team and to keep the side moving in the right direction.
Next up for the Black Cats is a game against Crystal Palace this weekend where the team ethic and spirit needs to be as strong as ever because of the fact Alan Pardew’s team go into the game after beating the champions last night.
