Damien Comolli has revealed on talkSPORT his initial thoughts about Raheem Sterling when he arrived at Liverpool.
Comolli was the Premier League outfit’s director of football from 2010 until 2012, and he has now claimed that he always knew about Sterling’s potential.
“When I arrived at Liverpool, I thought this is one of the top three talents at 16 I have ever seen,” he told talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show last week.
It is a huge comment from someone who has worked in various capacities at big Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Sterling is indeed a huge talent and has been one of the best players in the Liverpool squad for the best part of two years.
The 20-year-old was a key player in the Reds’ second-placed finish in the Premier League last season, scoring nine goals and creating 51 chances in 33 league appearances.
Sterling had a pass accuracy of 82% and a shot accuracy of 67%, while he won 92 of the 143 dribbles he attempted and 32 of the 84 tackles he made.
The England international has scored six goals and created 62 chances in 29 Premier League appearances so far this campaign, while having a pass accuracy of 80% and a shot accuracy of 54%.
