Aston Villa-owned Gary Gardner on his Nottingham Forest future

Aston Villa-owned midfielder Gary Gardner is enjoying life at Nottingham Forest.

Gary Gardner has told Nottingham Forest fans on social networking site Twitter that he will return to the club next season if Aston Villa do not need him.

The 22-year-old midfielder joined Championship outfit Forest from Villa in the January transfer window.

The youngster moved to the Reds on loan from the Premier League outfit and is scheduled to remain at the City Ground until the end of the season.

However, Gardner is enjoying himself at Forest and has revealed that he is open to playing for Dougie Freedman’s side next season.

Gardner has been an important player for Forest since his move from Villa, scoring three goals and creating 10 chances in 15 Championship appearances so far.

The English youngster also has a pass accuracy of 72% and a shot accuracy of 20%. Gardner has also won five dribbles, 45 headers and 40 tackles.

The Villa-owned player is versatile and can play in a number of positions in midfield, but he has stated that his favourite role is that of a box-to-box midfielder.

Forest are currently ninth in the Championship table with 58 points from 41 matches.
