Afobe has been in brilliant form so far this season and has been banging in the goals left, right and centre.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker was on target again on Monday, as he helped his side defeat Leeds United 4-3 at Molineux in the Championship.
The 22-year-old scored just three minutes into the second half of the encounter to put Wolves 3-1 in the lead at that stage.
Former Arsenal striker Wright was following the match, and he was impressed with Afobe’s goal.
The 51-year-old sent the youngster a congratulatory message on Twitter, to which the Wolves striker made a polite reply.
Afobe was on the books of Arsenal until January 2015, when Wolves signed him on a permanent deal.
The youngster has been superb for the Wanderers since the move, scoring 10 goals and creating 13 chances in 16 Championship appearances.
The 22-year-old has a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 71%, and has won 25 of the 42 dribbles he has attempted.
Victory over Leeds has seen Wolves move up to sixth in the Championship table with 71 points from 41 matches, just six points behind leaders Bournemouth.
