Sunderland made it five Premier League wins in a row against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The Black Cats won the Tyne–Wear derby against Newcastle 1-0 at the Stadium of Light, thanks to a stunning volley from former West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermain Defoe.
It was a team performance from the Black Cats, and one of the best players on the pitch was a certain Lee Cattermole.
The 27-year-old returned from a suspension to play a huge role in defensive midfield, his combative style stopping the Newcastle players from imposing themselves on the match.
Cattermole played the entire 90 minutes against the Magpies and ended the game with impressive stats of one shot, 79% pass accuracy, one cross, one interception, two clearances and two blocks.
One of the Newcastle players who failed to make an impact in the Tyne-Wear derby was Moussa Sissoko.
The France international midfielder has been one of the best players for the Magpies so far this season, but against Sunderland, he was largely anonymous.
Following the derby win, Sunderland fans took to social networking site Twitter to have their say on Cattermole and also mocked Sissoko.
