Daniel Sturridge says that he has a “positive mindset” ahead of an important week for Liverpool.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has taken to social networking site Twitter to state that he is keeping a “positive mindset” ahead “an important week”.

The Merseyside outfit have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League and are in real danger of missing out on a top-four finish this season.

Just before the two-week international break, Liverpool went down 2-1 to Manchester United at Anfield.

Then on Saturday, the Reds were hammered 4-1 by Arsenal away from home at the Emirates Stadium in North London.

The two successive losses mean that Brendan Rodgers’s side are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 54 points from 31 matches, seven points behind defending English champions Manchester City, who are fourth and have a game in hand.

Liverpool are back in action on Wednesday when they take on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park in an FA Cup quarter-final replay.

Sturridge, who has struggled with injuries this season, is looking forward to that tie and has underlined the importance of the week ahead with a simple Tweet.

Liverpool can still rescue their season if they progress further in the FA Cup, but getting the better of a Blackburn side who hammered Leeds United 3-0 at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday will not be easy.
