Lineker and Owen react on Twitter to Manchester City loss, Manchester United impact

Manchester City lost to Crystal Palace, and face Manchester United next.

Manchester City suffered a morale crushing loss away a Crystal Palace to lose vital ground in the title race.

City are no longer looking at catching Chelsea, but instead looking upwards at rivals Manchester United.

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker used his Twitter account to reflect on the unthinkable run of results which has led to Louis van Gaal's side overtaking Manuel Pellegrini's.

Another former England striker turned pundit, Michael Owen, said via Twitter that City did not deserve to lose at Selhurst Park, adding his forthright view that in his opinion their season is over.

City may be on a woeful run of form, and feeling depressed about a title challenge ending, but they need to lift themselves quickly and show the opposite of Owen's opinion - their season is far from over.

They sit in fourth place, one point behind United, but if they lose away at Old Trafford at the weekend then they will be looking over their shoulders at Liverpool.

Missing out on Champions League football would be disastrous for City, but they can put those fears to bed with a win at United, and with Manuel Pellegrini undefeated against the Red Devils, there is still reason to be positive.
