Arsenal legend Ian Wright has told BBC Sport that Newcastle United are in danger of suffering relegation from the Premier League at the end of the season.
The former Gunners striker made the comments following Newcastle’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
Mathematically, Newcastle are still in danger of getting sucked into the relegation dogfight.
John Carver’s side are currently 13th in the Premier League table with 35 points from 31 matches, nine points above the bottom three.
It does not look very likely at this moment in time that the Magpies would face relegation worries, but if they lose their next two games and results elsewhere go against them, then they may.
Newcastle do have a good team that can finish in mid-table, but recent results under Carver have not been great.
The Magpies failed to win a single Premier League match last month, and have started April with a defeat as well.
With Queens Park Rangers winning and Burnley picking up a point this weekend, the likes of Newcastle and Crystal Palace cannot become complacent just yet.
