Arsenal media round-up: Wenger comments on current status of Coquelin

A round up of news stories this morning related to Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has admitted in the Daily Mail that he does not see Francis Coquelin as one of his first choice players.

The gutsy midfielder has been in good form since he returned to the club earlier this season, after putting in another good performance in the game against Liverpool.

He’s filled a hole in front of Arsenal’s back four, but the boss has admitted he’s not first choice when it comes to his midfield.

“Honestly, I couldn’t say that in my head Coquelin was one of the first-choice players,” said Wenger.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been quoted by ESPN suggesting that anyone can smell that his side is full of goals.

Arsenal had far too much for Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool over the weekend, with a big 4-1 win which strengthened their position in the top four.

The boss is excited about the attacking potential in his squad ahead of the rest of the season.

“You smell that we can score goals. If you look at the number of goals we've scored now [62 from 31 league games] and that's quite good,” said Wenger.

Wenger has also been quoted by the Belfast Telegraph giving a bullish message over his side’s chances of winning the title.

The Frenchman has said he’s a competitor and has confirmed he will fight until the end of the season.

He’s suggested that all Arsenal can do is give everything until the end of the season and out pressure on other teams.

“I am a competitor and what that means is you have to go as high and as far as you can - Let's give everything to do it and see what happens,” he said.
