Spurs round-up: Early team news; Mason explains what Pochettino does well

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Turf Moor this afternoon to take on Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

Spurs are currently seventh in the Premier League and a win today will see them climb above both Southampton and Liverpool into fifth.

Burnley are 19th but they defeated Manchester City at home prior to the international break and they are a tough prospect for anyone in their own backyard.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is out injured with a gashed knee while Danny Rose is struggling with hamstring and hip issues.

Striker Roberto Soldado is also doubtful with a knee injury while Burnley’s Stephen Ward could feature after recovering from an ankle problem.

In other news, Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason has been speaking to the Telegraph about the club’s use of young players.

In reference to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino’s utilisation of youth, the recently-capped Mason said, “It’s brilliant for young players as he gives you that opportunity and he is not worried about putting you in.

“Hopefully, many more managers in the Premier League can start doing that for the sake of English football.”
