Photos: Leeds fans pay touching tribute - but Redfearn cuts lonely figure

Leeds supporters paid tribute to two supporters who died 15 years ago.

Leeds United fans produced a touching tribute at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon as they remembered two supporters who were stabbed while following the team they loved 15 years ago.

Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight were attacked in Turkey ahead of Leeds' Uefa Cup semi-final against Galatasaray.

This weekend, during the 3-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers, they were remembered.

In terms of the current Leeds side, though, things were naturally not all well after a turbulent week off the field of play.

After the suspension of assistant Steve Thompson, boss Neil Redfearn cut a lonely figure on the touchline.

Onlookers also commented on the Leeds boss's body language, with a week he admits has been tough visibly affecting the 49-year-old.

Redfearn says he hopes he will be in charge come Monday when United face Wolverhampton Wanderers and those who appreciate what he has done at Elland Road will no doubt hope he can ride out the storm at the club.

Saturday was a day to forget in terms of the football Leeds played, though, and the first matchday Redfearn had to endure without his loyal no.2 Thompson.
