The former Arsenal midfielder poked fun at the Tottenham Hotspur winger.
Paul Merson doesn't miss an opportunity to hit back, does he?
Immediately after Tottenham's 0-0 draw with Burnley - a game widely panned as one of the worst of the season - the Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal midfielder took to Twitter to mock Andros Townsend.
The 23-year-old had responded to Merson's criticism after scoring for England against Italy earlier this week, also on social media.
But, here, the pundit hit back, poking fun at Townsend for only featuring for seven minutes against Burnley.
Tottenham's performance left a lot to be desired against the Clarets but it was just as interesting to note Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino neither using Townsend nor Erik Lamela to start.
When he made his substitutions, it was Lamela he opted to use ahead of Townsend.
With seven minutes to go, the 23-year-old winger came on but that was no time in which to make an impact.
It looks as though the Tottenham man's Twitter antics are coming back to bite him. After all, if you get excited and shout to the world after scoring one goal, why can't your critics get excited every time something goes wrong for you, too?
