Liverpool lost 4-1 to Arsenal this weekend, but what did Reds fans think of Raheem Sterling's contribution?

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling may have been making headlines for his contract situation in recent times, but it was his performance on the field that came under the spotlight this weekend.

The England international started Liverpool’s Premier League match against Arsenal on Saturday but struggled to change the course of the game during his time on the pitch, having no shots on goal, playing no key passes and doing little in terms of defensive duties.

He was not the only Liverpool player to have an off-day; in fact few could leave the field with their heads held anywhere close to high. But when you consider Sterling’s innate ability and his ongoing contract situation, he really should have done better in what was a make-or-break match for Liverpool.

Manchester United’s victory later the same day means Liverpool are now eight points outside the top four with only seven games remaining.
