Nicky Law delighted with team performance in the 2-1 win against Hearts.
Law is one of a number of players who have put in improved performances since the arrival of Stuart McCall and was voted Man of the Match for his performance in Sunday afternoon’s game.
The midfielder combined with two other much-improved performers for Rangers’ first goal. Law – who was deployed on the left wing – put the ball through to Lee Wallace who in turn played it across the box for Kenny Miller to sweep into the net.
Haris Vuckic scored the second 10 minutes after with a well placed left footed effort from the edge of the box, but was replaced by Biel Mohsni at half time after Lee McCulloch saw red just before the break.
Speaking after the game, Law reserved praise for the side’s combative performance which led to a vital win in their bid to finish second.
"We are delighted with that win today. Everyone in the changing room is very tired but delighted because it's a massive win for us.
"We knew that with results yesterday it was a huge chance for us to stamp our authority on second place and thankfully we've managed to do that today.”
He continued: “I'm proud of everyone in the changing room and we are all delighted to win such a big game, but also to get ourselves into second place with a game in hand."
Rangers were forced to show their battling qualities after McCulloch was dismissed and displayed organisation, desire and passion in a difficult second half where they were largely able to hold Hearts at bay until Genero Zeefuik managed to find a way through eight minutes from time.
The Light Blues are now in the driving seat for second place after capitalising on Hibernian’s recent dip in form and can keep the momentum going when they face Queen of the South on Thursday night.
