Aston Villa fans blast Sherwood on Twitter after again ignoring Carles Gil

Villa Holte End

Aston Villa fans were once again unhappy with Carles Gil's exclusion from the team.

Aston Villa couldn't cause an upset at Old Trafford as Tim Sherwood's men lost 3-1 to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

A brace from Ander Herrera and a superb goal from Wayne Rooney handed United all three points, with Christian Benteke's goal not enough to spark a Villa fightback at 2-1.

The result leaves Villa in 16th place in the Premier League table, still just three points clear of the relegation zone after a second straight defeat.

After the game, Villa fans took to Twitter to air their opinions on the defeat, and there was a particular theme occurring again and again.

Supporters were frustrated that January signing Carles Gil was once again left on the bench, with many believing that the former Valencia man would have provided the creative spark Villa needed to get back into the game.

The 22-year-old Spanish playmaker has played just 59 minutes under Sherwood, including just one minute in the last month.

It seems that Sherwood really doesn't rate Gil despite his impressive performance before Sherwood replaced Paul Lambert as manager - and fans aren't happy.

They believe that Gil should be playing instead of the likes of Joe Cole, Andreas Weimann and Gabriel Agbonlahor, all of whom played a part against United.

Here are some of the reactions from angry Aston Villa fans after Gil was again left out against Manchester United...
