The Merseyside outfit got the better of the Saints 1-0 at home in the Premier League clash, thanks to Phil Jagielka's close-range finish in the 16th minute.
The win at Goodison Park was Everton’s third successive victory in the Premier League and has lifted them up to 11th in the league table with 37 points from 31 matches.
Lennon, who joined Everton on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, featured for the entire 90 minutes.
Following the victory, the 27-year-old took to Twitter to have his say on the Toffees’ performance against Southampton.
Great win yesterday not a great game but another 3 points #buzzing— Aaron Lennon (@Aaron7Lennon) April 5, 2015
It is a refreshingly honest assessment from Lennon, and indeed Everton were far from their best against Ronald Koeman’s Southampton side.
The hosts had 45% of the possession, 10 shots of which one was on target, and four corners. In contrast, the Saints had 55% of the possession, 11 shots of which two were on target, and 10 corners.
