QPR fans react on Twitter to Joey Barton's performance v West Brom

The Queens Park Rangers faithful were full of praise for their captain. Which makes a change...

QPR fans were delighted with Joey Barton on Twitter after he scored during their side's 4-1 win over West Brom.

The stunning victory brought the west London side newfound hope in their battle against relegation - and so too did Barton's performance.

Charlie Austin and Eduardo Vargas also scored, while Bobby Zamora, too, drew plenty of praise after his display against West Brom. Barton, though, stole the show...

Eduardo Vargas 1 13 8 22 30
Bobby Zamora 1 12 3 29 75

As Opta stats prove, the QPR captain produced a dominant display against West Brom.

Barton completed more passes than any other R's star to go with his goal, made six in the final third and also took more touches than any other team-mate.

The question, though, is why Barton hasn't been able to do this more consistently - something that can be leveled at the QPR side as a whole.

This was a blistering win over West Brom and there can be genuine hope, with Aston Villa and Leicester City still to face, if Chris Ramsey's side can play like this every week.

Will they, though?

Here's what QPR fans made of their skipper's performance on Twitter after beating the Baggies... A selection of comments that, it has to be said, seem to disagree with the majority view most weeks that Barton has been very poor this season:
