PSV boss confirms Manchester United and Tottenham target Memphis Depay will leave this summer

The Dutchman has outgrown the Eredivisie and is set for a move abroad.

Memphis Depay is set to be one of Europe's most wanted players this summer.

Two days ago Manchester United were again heavily linked with a move for the player by The Mirror, as interest in his services heats up.

Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be keen. The Mirror claimed in January that he was set to be the target of a £15 million bid from the club who were looking for wide options.

Those rumours were recently fanned by his decision to switch kit deals, joining Under Armour, who supply Tottenham with their apparel.

However, Depay was a member of Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands squad at the 2014 World Cup and caught the eye with some good performances for his nation.

But he has also been in terrific form for PSV Eindhoven this season and now his current club manager has admitted Depay is set to leave. Phillip Cocu is quoted by Football Oranje as stating:

“I think he’s ready for the next step, and I think he’ll leave. That’s what we’re taking into account anyway.”

Depay has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo in some circles and has been in fantastic form for the Eredivisie leaders this term.

He has scored 20 goals in 30 appearances for PSV this season, so it is little wonder why United and Tottenham are battling for his services.

Time will tell where he ends up.
