Phil Thompson has told Sky Sports that he expects Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
“There will be quite a few offloaded and Rodgers might have a bit of a clear out,” the Liverpool legend told Sky Sports.
“I think it will be very difficult for Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini to remain and, whether the club want to move them on or not, I think they’re going to want to seek pastures new.”
Mario Balotelli joined Liverpool from Italian giants AC Milan in the summer of 2014 and has been nothing short of a flop this season.
Rickie Lambert moved to Liverpool from Southampton in the summer of 2014, and he was always expected to play a bit-part role this campaign.
The England international striker has been sparingly used by Reds manager Brendan Rodgers, and it is clear that he does not feature prominently in the Northern Irishman’s plans.
Fabio Borini has been on the books of Liverpool since 2012, but he does not seem to have a future at Anfield.
The Italy international is pretty much the fourth-choice striker at the Merseyside outfit, and he needs to leave in order to resurrect his career.
