Mark Lawrenson predicts Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Sunday’s Premier League clash between Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur at Turf Moor.

Mark Lawrenson has predicted in his BBC Sport column that Tottenham Hotspur will lose to Burnley in the Premier League away from home on Sunday.

The former Liverpool defender believes that the Clarets will register a 2-1 victory over the North London outfit at Turf Moor.

“Tottenham are a good side but this is a tough game for them,” the 57-year-old wrote on BBC Sport. “I fancy the Clarets to win and the reason I say that is because I think they will be 'up and at ‘em'. It will be a real east Lancashire welcome. A case of 'have some of this - lots of shoe’."

Could Mark Lawrenson’s prediction come true?

Many Premier League football followers will be surprised at Lawrenson’s prediction, but could it come true?

Burnley are struggling for survival in the Premier League, but they are not going to go down without a fight.

Sean Dyche’s side have shown this season that they can compete with the top teams at home, and one suspects that the two-week international break will have given the players plenty of time to prepare for the clash against Spurs.

However, Tottenham will head into the game as favourites. The visitors are the better team and have players of better quality.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are fighting for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, and it will be a surprise if they lose to Burnley.
