Liverpool round-up: Early team news; Sakho on what Reds must do today

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

Liverpool travel to the Emirates Stadium this weekend for a huge Premier League encounter.

The Reds lost 2-1 to Manchester United directly before the international break and defeat against the Gunners could see Brendan Rodgers’ side slip out of the race for a top-four finish.

In early team news, the BBC reports that both Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel will begin their three-match suspensions for incidents that occurred against United.

There is better news regarding midfielder Lucas Leiva, who looks set to start following his return from injury.

Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling are both set to recover from minor problems but Adam Lallana could be missing with a groin injury.

In other news, Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has been speaking to the club’s official website about how his side can take three points off the Gunners in Saturday’s lunch-time kick-off.

“We have to stay focused, go to Arsenal and play our football and believe in our quality,” the French centre-back said.

A win for Liverpool would be a huge boost even if United win against Aston Villa later in the day, but Arsenal will want the three points of their own, so in this match anything could happen…
