Leeds United round-up: Early team news and rival ‘delighted’ for Redfearn

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Leeds United…

Leeds United take on Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road this weekend with just two points and three places separating them in the Championship table.

Leeds drew 1-1 with Blackpool prior to the international break while Blackburn lost 1-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Leeds are without one of their star performers this season – Lewis Cook.

The young midfielder damaged ankle ligaments while playing for England’s under-19s and he is now set for a spell on the side-lines.

There is better news with the potential return of Rudy Austin, who could replace Cook having previously missed plenty of game-time with an injury of his own.

For Blackburn, loanee Paul Taylor is tipped to make his debut while Jason Lowe and Shane Duffy are both out.

In other news, the Independent reports that Leeds manager Neil Redfearn has the support of Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer as the two sides prepare to go head-to-head.

“I’m delighted for Neil because there are some good young English and British coaches up and down the country and people sometimes don’t get given that opportunity,” Bowyer said.

But however the two men feel about each other, they will be fully focused on taking the three points ahead of their opponents this afternoon.
