Blackburn Rovers defeated Leeds United 3-0 at Elland Road in the Championship today.

Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has told the club’s official website that he was impressed with the way his side played against Leeds United after the hosts went down to 10 men.

Rovers got the better of Leeds 3-0 at Elland Road in the Championship earlier today, thanks to second-half goals from Tom Cairney, Jordan Rhodes and Jay Spearing.

The visitors had numerical superiority for most of the game, following the sending-off of Whites midfielder Rodolph Austin in the 39th minute.

Although many would suggest that it was easier for the Riversiders to play against 10 men, Bowyer was actually impressed with the way his players handled the situation.

“I think it was a really impressive display of playing against ten men,” the 43-year-old told Rovers’ official website.

“You’ve seen numerous times in games where the ten men rally. We knew that Leeds would, but I thought we were very professional and very disciplined with our performance.”

Bowyer seems to suggest that the Rovers’ players’ professionalism and discipline made the difference at Elland Road, and that could well be the case.

Playing against Leeds in front of over 25,000 fans at Elland Road can be very daunting, but the Blackburn players handled the situation very well.

The victory in West Yorkshire means that Blackburn are now 10th in the Championship table with 57 points from 40 matches.
