The 19-year-old striker joined Forest on loan from Premier League giants Arsenal last month until the end of the season.
Akpom started the Championship encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground and played the entire 90 minutes.
The highly-rated teenager ended up on the losing side, as Forest suffered a 2-1 home defeat.
After the match, Akpom made the following post on Twitter:
glad to make my Nottingham debut today , disappointed with the result but onto the next game , positive thinking #forest— Chuba Akpom (@cakpom) April 3, 2015
Despite failing to win on his Forest debut, Akpom gave a good account of himself and can be proud of his performance.
The youngster had one shot, played four final-third passes, won four duels and one header, and took 28 touches of the ball.
Forest are currently ninth in the Championship table with 57 points from 40 matches, 11 points behind sixth-placed Derby County.
