The 20-year-old Liverpool youngster was impressed after watching the Norwegian net at St Mirren.
The Scottish Premiership clash was televised on BT Sport, with champions Celtic running out 2-0 winners.
Johansen, who joined the club for £2 million, per the Daily Record, netted the Bhoys' second from the penalty spot and Liverpool's McLaughlin was impressed with the 24-year-old's overall performance.
It wasn't Johansen's only strong display of the season, of course, with the Celtic star consistently producing brilliance for Ronny Deila's men.
The midfielder is a strong candidate to be the club's player of the season and has duly been nominated for the award. McLaughlin, meanwhile, will aim to break into the Liverpool first team when he can and looks to have a bright future ahead of him at the age of 20.
Is there anything the Reds star can learn from Johansen? Most certainly. The Celtic man is good enough to play in the English Premier League, according to comments made by boss Deila in the Daily Mail.
And he was certainly good enough at St Mirren last night, where the Bhoys further solidified their grip at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
