Welbeck returned from international duty with England with a slight knee problem and was considered doubtful for the match at the Emirates Stadium in North London.
"(Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain is still out and not available and Danny Welbeck came back from England with a slight knee injury,” Wenger told Arsenal’s official website on Thursday. “It looks like he has a little chance to be available for Saturday still.”
Welbeck, though, seemed fine in training with the rest of the Arsenal squad earlier today, as he got stuck in with the likes of Francis Coquelin and Per Mertesacker (see pictures below).
Even if the 24-year-old is deemed fully fit, there is no guarantee that he will start the encounter against Liverpool.
France international striker Olivier Giroud has been in superb form in recent weeks, and he is set to retain his place in the starting line-up.
Former Manchester United man Welbeck, though, has done his job and is having a pretty decent season on a personal level.
The Englishman has scored four goals and created 28 chances in 22 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, while having a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 54%.
