Newcastle goalkeeper confirms season-ending injury on Twitter

Jak Alnwick has confirmed that his season is over due to injury.

On his personal Twitter account, Alnwick has confirmed that he will be out until next season due to injury.

Alnwick made his first ever appearance for Newcastle in December of this season, coming on as a half-time substitute to help the Magpies to victory.

He ended up making eight appearances in all competitions for the Magpies, before being removed from the first-team following the return of Tim Krul from injury.

So as to guarantee that the 21-year-old would continue playing competitive first-team football to aid his development, Alnwick was sent on loan to League One side Braford City.

The England youth international struggled to hold down a role with the Yorkshire club, as first-choice stopper Ben Williams was available for selection, and he returned to St James’ Park earlier this week for scans on his wrist.

It was adjudged that he was injured, but without any proof, but now the young ‘keeper has taken to Twitter to confirm that he has been ruled out to the end of the season due to injury.

The young stopper will be set to return ahead of next campaign, and will be keen to fight for the number one jersey on Tyneside.
