To be played on Sunday 5th April 2015 at 12:15. Venue: Ibrox, Glasgow.
Odds: Rangers 9/5, draw 5/2, Hearts 7/5
Rangers welcome Hearts to Ibrox knowing that only a win will do as they continue to put pressure on Hibernian in the fight for second place in the Scottish Championship.
A potential third successive win for Stuart McCall’s men would be a massive show of intent in the battle for second spot, with a victory against the league champions a sign that Rangers are back to their best.
Robbie Neilson’s men have already secured the title but haven’t taken their foot off the gas - winning their most recent game against Queen of the South 2-0, taking their winning run to nine games.
The Jambos have beaten Rangers twice this season and will present the Gers with a very difficult task on Sunday afternoon, with the match being a very good barometer of how far they have progressed under McCall.
A recent change in system has brought about back-to-back wins for the Light Blues, instilling confidence back into the players, which has resulted in improved performances.
Hearts have caused their hosts difficulties in recent times and have emerged victorious in two of their last six visits to Ibrox, drawing one and losing three. The two Hearts victories have come in the two most recent games and anything other than Rangers at their best could result in a third straight win for the Jambos.
McCall will be able to call upon defender Marius Zaliukus, who missed the win against Cowdenbeath whilst on international duty with Lithuania. His return to the side could see David Templeton return to the bench, with the rest of the team presenting a clean bill of health.
Neilson could put out the same side for the third game in a row as his team continue their procession to the end of the season.
