The German winger is happy to be staying with beloved Borussia Monchengladbach.
The talented wide-man had been linked with Tottenham before. In 2012 the Daily Mail reported that Spurs were keeping an eye on the player and now, three years later, it looked like they would be making a move for him once again.
However, that will not be happening. Because Hermmann has committed his future to Gladbach for the foreseeable future.
The club announced on their official site yesterday that Herrmann has signed a deal with the club until 2019. The player himself commented on the new deal, stating:
"I’ve been here for a while and feel at home...
"Extending my contract with Borussia is a dream come true.
"The lads can see that we’re heading in the right direction and that we have a bright future. It was great to play in Europe this year and I’d like to be able to do that again. We have a strong squad and are well played for the future."
It is hard not to agree that Spurs perhaps need new wide options. Only Andros Townsend really stands out as an out-and-out wide-man at the club. Other players to have played there, such as Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen are really, more centrally minded.
However Spurs will need to look elsewhere if they really want a new winger this summer.
