Salerno suspended Steve Thompson from his post at Leeds United.
Leeds United are suddenly a club facing uncertainty, days after head coach Neil Redfearn had boasted of their building blocks for the future.
Redfearn had told the Guardian earlier in the week about the positivity their recent run had created, yet after assistant boss Steve Thompson was suspended this week, the same paper stated Redfearn is considering his position.
The club described it as an 'internal matter', but the timing of the news leaking under an hour before Redfearn's weekly press conference was about to start was disastrous, and has made it a very public issue from which at present there are no answers.
Salerno making the big decision is certainly noteworthy, for he is Massimo Cellino's right hand man, although the Italian owner is officially suspended at present by the Football League.
Perhaps the irony of this was the very last tweet Salerno sent out via his twitter account a fortnight ago - stating one word: 'Together'.
Right now Leeds are off the pitch, anything but together. They are a fractured club due to the ongoing ownership issues and the head coach being humiliatingly undermined.
Whatever happens next, knowing the recent history at Leeds, is anybody's guess.
UPDATE: Nicola Salerno has now deleted the tweet (!)
