The 20-year-old has 13 goals in 26 games this season for Jupiler Pro League side Anderlecht, and is set to depart Belgium in the summer. The Premier League have certainly got a foothold in the door for a future transfer with the clubs interested, and the £15 million price tag is not too expensive for a top flight club to splash out on.
However, Mitrovic has been drawing admiring glances from abroad, and another club have entered the race to sign the prolific forward, with TMW reporting that Serie A’s AC Milan are tracking him ahead of a potential transfer.
Sporting Lisbon and Benfica are also named as potential suitors in that same article, but Milan scouts have been impressed by the forward having watched him for a number of months. He has not stopped scoring despite the increasing interest in him, and would have shown his impressive goal getting abilities on a number of occasions.
With Milan likely to miss out on the Champions League next season, Mitrovic will probably prefer a move to North London, with the Gunners all but secure for European qualification. Sporting and Benfica could also offer similar enticements, but Newcastle now look the least likely to sign the hot-shot prospect.
