Former Gunner Ray Parlour says Fabian Delph deserves his England place, but has called the country's midfield predictable.
The ex-Gunner defender the Villa star in what he described as a ‘predictable’ England midfield under Roy Hodgson.
“Delph deserves his place because he's done well whenever he's had an England shirt on - they're just a little bit predictable across midfield,” said Parlour.
Delph has been one of the players who has taken to new Villa manager Tim Sherwood well, showing good form, which led to his recent England call up.
He’s now facing arguably the biggest challenge of his career, as his club side face an intense and nervous end to the Premier League season.
Villa are under pressure to try and put distance between themselves and the bottom three in the Premier League and it’s important that Delph and other key members of the team put their hands up to be counted.
Sherwood’s job is to work on his weaknesses, challenging him to become an even better player and removing any predictable elements from the way Delph plays in big games.
The more international experience Delph accumulates, the better he should become because of the increased exposure and quality of the games he’s playing in.
All Villa have to do is sit back and benefit from the positives that creates and coach him in the right way to keep him effective.
