GOOD TO BE BACK: Cattermole trains ahead of Sunday's derby - he's available to play after serving his two game ban pic.twitter.com/Ig6U5ALDuu— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) April 2, 2015
The Sunderland players have been training today ahead of this weekend’s Premier League showdown against Newcastle United.
Among the Sunderland players who were training today was defensive midfielder Lee Cattermole, who is available for the game after serving his suspension.
The combative midfielder missed the Black Cats’s last two games as he was banned, but he is set to feature against Newcastle.
Cattermole has not had a great 2015 so far, with injuries and suspension disrupting the 27-year-old’s progress.
However, the former Wigan Athletic and Middlesbrough star could start the Wear-Tyne derby, and that is not a prospect to relish for the Newcastle players.
Cattermole has scored one goal and created nine chances in 21 Premier League appearances so far this season, while having a pass accuracy of 82% and winning 44 of the 128 tackles he has made.
