The Spaniard is currently in a rich vein of form for the club.
Juan Mata has had an exceptional few weeks at Manchester United. The diminutive Spaniard has been integral to their recent run of form, along with Marouane Fellaini, which has seen United win their last four Premier League games.
Mata was vital over the course of the past month, playing blinders against Tottenham and, most recently, Liverpool, to keep United on the Champions League hunt.
He scored a double against Liverpool at Anfield prior to the international break that truly got the fans excited, including a remarkable second. He met Angel Di Maria's nonchalant chipped pass with a delightful bicycle kick to send the United fans into overdrive.
They have clearly not forgotten.
Mata has been voted the Manchester United player of the month for March. The Spaniard has even taken to Twitter to thank the fans for the accolade:
The form of Mata has been inspiring and perhaps saving, in regards to his Manchester United career. It looked at the start of the season like Mata might not fit into Van Gaal's plans.
But just like Fellaini, form has seen him force his name onto the team-sheet and both will surely feature when United take on Aston Villa this weekend.
