Osborn was one of the several players away from the club during the international break, rewarded for his superb form so far this season.
“There are a lot of players who get called up for international duty and say I need a bit of a break or I’ve got a little injury,” said the boss.
“Ben, when I told him, he was like a kid in a sweet shop – When I asked him if he was okay, he was just so excited.”
Osborn has been one of the most consistent midfielders at the club since Freedman took over as manager and he should be looking to maintain that form over the rest of the season.
The player has been offered a taste of the international football which is available to him and if he can play well and perform effectively, then there is no reason he can’t maintain his position at international level with England heading into next season.
All Freedman has to do is keep him grounded and ensure that he doesn’t get too carried away with his new status as an international player.
There is still plenty of work for the club to do over the rest of the season and with each match and victory that Forest accumulate, things are going to get a bit tenser with the possibility of a top six finish.
