Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has taken to Instagram to thank the fans for their support during his injury problems.
The England international has been out of competitive football for months and underwent surgery to remove two screws from his ankle last month.
The 23-year-old, though, is now getting closer to full fitness and featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford on Tuesday.
Wilshere played for 45 minutes and also scored, and he is now looking forward to returning to action with the first team.
Earlier this evening, Wilshere posted the following message on Instagram.
Wilshere is one of the most talented players in English football, but his career has been plagued by injuries.
A versatile player who is willing to play as an attacking midfielder as well as in a defensive role, the Arsenal star’s return will be a boost to the team’s chances of a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
In nine Premier League appearances so far this season, Wilshere has scored one goal and created seven chances, while having a pass accuracy of 83% and a shot accuracy of 71%.
Arsenal are currently third in the Premier League table with 60 points from 30 matches.
