The 23-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a breakout campaign at White Hart Lane and he was duly rewarded with his first senior appearance for the Three Lions in their 1-1 draw with Italy.
The match saw Southampton’s Graziano Pelle score for the hosts before Tottenham’s Andros Townsend equalised with a fine strike.
That came just five minutes after Mason had joined the action having replaced Jordan Henderson, and the Spurs man clearly could not contain his delight following his latest achievement.
Writing on Twitter on Wednesday, Mason said, “Dream come true to make my England debut last night; will never forget that moment.”
It may have been fellow Tottenham youngster Harry Kane who has taken the majority of the plaudits this season, but Mason deserves plenty of credit.
He has featured 29 times for Mauricio Pochettino’s side already this season and he looks like being a vital member of their squad for years to come.
