Football and April Fools’ Day do not mix in the best manner, and it is fortunate that they only coincide once a year.
Not only do players and clubs get in on the action to confuse fans, the media will bring it upon themselves to create chaos in the footballing world. The long-held dreams of high profile transfers will be fulfilled, while players will show support for previously unknown teams, and even musicians will get involved in the game.
It is all good fun, until someone takes a story too seriously and it becomes national news.
