Sporting Lisbon are hoping to sign Southampton's Sadio Mane this summer, according to a report from TalkSPORT.
Mane has made an excellent impression during his debut season in English football, but Sporting are still said to be hopeful of being able to capture the quick front-man.
The report states that the Portuguese club feel that their ability to offer European football and a permanent starting place could encourage Mane to make the switch, and they are hoping to negotiate a price with the South Coast club in the coming months.
What would be the impact of losing Mane for Southampton?
Southampton are unlikely to be too willing to do business with Sporting, as Mane is an important player for them and has shown a lot of potential already.
Although the 22-year-old remains raw, he appears to have the natural ability to be a real star and can be a key part of Southampton's team for the years ahead.
Losing him at such an early stage of his career would be a major blow for the side and also send out of the wrong message to the rest of the squad.
Southampton had a brilliant season last campaign, before becoming victims of their own success and losing many of their top performers, so they will be determined not to have a similar summer this time around.
