Report: No games for Chelsea, but West Ham and Spurs want 23-year-old midfielder

The Premier League duo are said to be tracking former Chelsea midfielder Jacopo Sala.

Sala currently plays for Serie A side Hellas Verona, but a report published by Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are looking to sign the 23-year-old midfielder.

With eight appearances to his name this term, the former Italian Under-21 international has done much to impress. Commonly utilised as a central midfielder, he has also started to show promise as a wing-back when used in that position by head coach Andrea Mandorlini.

The report states that West Ham, Liverpool and Tottenham are looking at Sala, with Spurs in particular prioritising him as a wing-back.

Sala has already spent a large portion of his career in England, having progressed through the Chelsea youth academy between 2007 and 2011. He failed to make a single appearance for the Blues and eventually left the club in 2011 to sign with Bundesliga side Hamburg, where he stayed before switching to Verona in the summer of 2013.

Despite having no English outings to his name, the youngster has clearly done enough to prove himself to the watching Premier League clubs, and he could just make a career for himself in England after all.
