Real Madrid have completed the €31.5 million signing of Porto right-back Danilo until 2021.
Late Tuesday evening, Real Madrid made the shock announcement on their website that they have finalised the transfer of Brazilian right-back Danilo from Portuguese side Porto until 2021, with an expected transfer fee of €31.5 million.
"Real Madrid C. F. and FC Porto have reached an agreement over the transfer of Danilo, he will join the club next season and has a contract until 30 June 2021," the statement reads.
Earlier this month, the Manchester United and Liverpool target was believed to have agreed to terms to join Real Madrid, as reported by Spanish TV network La Sexta (via Marca), while many thought the move was normal transfer fodder, as the timing of the transfer seemed to be premature.
The two sides were reportedly ironing out terms, as they tried to find a happy medium between Real Madrid's offer of €20 million and Porto's €40 million asking price.
According to AS, the two sides have split the difference with the 23-year-old Brazilian making the move for a believed fee of €31.5 million, which was later confirmed by Porto due to their "Valores Mobiliarios en Portugal" law.
Danilo has been praised for his progression under Spanish Porto manager Julen Lopetegui this season and will now join Real Madrid in a case of the rich getting rich, with Danilo rivalling the already very capable Dani Carvajal for the starting right-back spot.
