20-year-old Robinson is currently on his second loan spell with the League One club, and manager Simon Grayson has told the Lancashire Evening Post how the Lilywhites could see him back at Deepdale next season.
He said: “If they go out and recruit a couple of strikers and a wide player in the summer, there might be the chance that Callum is allowed out on loan for another year, or even permanently.
“If we get any indication that Callum is available in any format next season, we will do something about it.”
Robinson has netted six times in 19 games for the League One club, as they search for promotion to the Championship, and he is a youth international for England, having been capped at every age group up the Under-20s.
Considered a bright prospect in the Villa academy, there are hopes that Tim Sherwood will look to the younger players to revitalise a poor squad, and Robinson could be one of the players to benefit.
However, the Villa management may feel another loan spell away from Villa Park will be beneficial to the youngster’s development. Having proven himself in League One, the club could wish to send him to the Championship, and Grayson should hope that Preston can win promotion so as to secure the promising forward for another campaign.
The North End boss is right to wish for Robinson’s return next season, and if Villa do intend to strengthen their squad in the summer to create a competitive Premier League side, the young goal-getter could be heading back to Deepdale after all.
