Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unlikely to play for Manchester United anytime soon

The Swede has previous with Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal.

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has recently been hypothesising over who the club should look at bringing in this summer. The one name that immediately sprung to mind was that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Great Dane told French press L'Equipe that Ibra was 'born to play' for United.

He stated: "Last summer, there were rumours that he would come to Manchester United. I then said that Zlatan was built for the club, he was born to play there.

"It's why Cantona was so strong when he was there, not at Leeds or in all other clubs in France? Why? Because it is Manchester United."

It would certainly be a great signing for the club. The Swedish legend is currently playing for French giants Paris Saint-Germain and has been the catalyst behind their recent resurgence.

But should United actually want to make a move for the superstar striker, they may be disappointed.

Zlatan has played for a heap of top European clubs. Barcelona, AC Milan, Juventus and, his first big break, which came at Ajax.

While there he actually worked under current Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, who was the director of football at the time. Clashes soon ensued.

In Zlatan's autobiography, the Daily Mail reported that the Swede called the Manchester United gaffer a 'pompous a***'.

The Swede also spoke of him in Sports Illustrated back in June 2014. He said of Van Gaal:

"He's the boss and everybody else can, how do you say—they're soldiers. I mean, you have to have a little bit of feeling in the whole thing. Many big stars have problems with him because of the way he is. I understand if you're 15 to 20 years old, you put the discipline there. Which is normal, because I was in Holland, I was in that school where he built up Ajax. And I understand it, but when you come to a team with 22 big stars, that's what you treat them like? Like small boys?"

Manchester United would certainly enjoy bringing him in. Robin van Persie has struggled for fitness this term. Radamel Falcao has not shone. Wayne Rooney has been drifting into a midfield position. James Wilson is still young.

Another striker is needed at Old Trafford this summer and Van Gaal wants superstars, Zlatan would be perfect.

However, they are surely not ready to work together once again.
