Predicting Manchester United’s next four games

Manchester United

We take a close look at Manchester United’s Premier League matches against Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton.

Manchester United v Aston Villa

Manchester United will be favourites to win the match against Aston Villa on Saturday, but they cannot become complacent.

Manager Tim Sherwood has given Villa a fighting chance of avoiding the drop from the Premier League, and the players will put up a fight at Old Trafford.

Although United should be able to overcome the Villans, they cannot afford to concede an early goal and allow the visitors to increase in confidence.

Prediction: 2-0

Manchester United v Manchester City

United have started to play well in recent weeks, and Louis van Gaal’s side will be confident of registering a win against city-rivals Manchester City.

Since the game will be played at Old Trafford, the Red Devils will know that they will have the backing of the home crowd, but City could just about edge this one.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are still in the running for the Premier League title, and they have enough quality to register a narrow win in the Manchester derby.

Prediction: 2-3

Chelsea v Manchester United

Chelsea are very strong at home, and manager Jose Mourinho will make sure that his players do not slip up at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have shown vulnerability in recent weeks, but Mourinho’s players are tactically more responsive than Van Gaal’s men.

This game does not promise to produce entertaining end-to-end football, and one suspects that a single goal could decide the outcome.

Prediction: 1-0

Everton v Manchester United

Everton have been disappointing all season, and although they are at home for this game, United should be able to pick up all three points with relative ease.

Prediction: 1-3
