Metal Gear Solid movie moves a step further, signs writer for project

The Metal Gear Solid movie takes another step towards being made as it signs up a writer for the project.

In a report from Deadline on Monday they say that British writer Jay Basu (Monsters: Dark Continent) has signed a deal with Sony Pictures to write the movie of Konami and Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid.

Production on the MGS movie will be overseen by Avi and Ari Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), along with Michael De Luca (Captain Philips) as production president. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is said to be directing the flick.

There isn't really any other information than that, considering it's not even written yet. So, we're still in the very early stages, but at least it's a step in a positive direction.

Despite the lack of info right now, that won't stop fans of the Metal Gear series speculating on when the movie will be set, along with other important issues such as who they're going to get to play Snake himself.
