There is mixed news for Celtic fans regarding Nir Biton's fitness.
There is mixed news for Celtic regarding the fitness of midfielder Nir Biton who had to be helped off the field in Israel's defeat to Wales at the weekend.
Biton returned to training for Israel after getting the all clear from doctors after undergoing a scan. Now the Jerusalem Post report he is in line to start against Belgium on Tuesday night.
The newspaper confirms he remains a doubt, but he is the preferred option to start in midfield against Marc Wilmots highly rated side.
Israel coach Eli Gutman wants to change his side after their poor 3-0 home defeat to Wales. Biton started that game on the bench and only came on after an hour, injuring his foot in the final minutes of the match.
While positive news that Biton is even under consideration to play, it may be better from a Celtic perspective that he sits it out, and rests ahead of his return to club football this weekend.
Keen to make up for their embarrassing loss to Wales in front of their home fans however, Israel are unlikely to leave any stone unturned in order to pick up a result at home to Belgium.
If he does not make it, the JP report that former Celtic midfielder Berim Kayal, sold to Brighton in January, would step into the side in his place.
Biton, 23, has made 33 appearances for Celtic in all competitions this season, and has nine caps for Israel to date.
