Former football turned pundit Terry Gibson has been speaking to Sky Sports about how Real Madrid can best utilise Gareth Bale.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star is having a disappointing spell at the Bernabeu , scoring just two goals in his last nine La Liga appearances. But Gibson believes he knows how to get the best out of the Welshman.
Speaking about recent reports from Spain regarding Bale’s performance for his country in their 3-0 win against Israel, Gibson said, “What they are saying (is) they could (go) back to the 4-2-3-1 with Bale in the position that Mesut Ozil played under (Jose ) Mourinho and I think they have a point to be honest.”
Bale impressed in his first season after leaving Tottenham, but questions have been asked of his second campaign and it is up to Real to get the best out of a player who has not lost his ability overnight.
Ozil shone under Mourinho and that form is likely to have gone a long way to prompting Arsenal to pay a club-record fee for the German international, and Bale’s speed and attacking ability means her could be an even better option in that area of the field.
It could be argued that Arsenal have not seen the best of Ozil just as Real have not seen the best of Bale, so could the same formation suit both sides as the Welsh international looks to replicate the form that saw him blossom in his final campaign for Tottenham.
