Firmino scored a brilliant goal in Brazil's recent friendly against Chile, and with sudden success comes the inevitable transfer rumours, after the 23-year-old has shown consistent performances both domestically and internationally.
According to German sports magazine Kicker via AS, Atletico Madrid are set to face off against Manchester United for the midfielder's services with manager Diego Simeone specifically requesting the club's front office sign the player ahead of next season.
Simeone is reportedly keen to bring the Brazilian to the Vicente Calderon due to his field vision and ability to open up space for the forwards while also giving them another avenue for the final pass, something Atleti have struggled with this season.
Firmino is expected to come at a relatively cheap price considering his massive upside, but because of his game-winning goal against Chile, heads have been turned.
One such team is said to be Manchester United, who are expected by Kicker to make a strong push for the player, but Atletico Madrid are believed to have made first contact and to have the upper-hand in what could be a long transfer process.
