Thierry Henry sends message to Liverpool fans

Theirry Henry has described Liverpool's fans as incredible.

Premier League legend Thierry Henry has described his delight at putting his boots back on to raise money for charity.

The Frenchman used his twitter page to thank Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher for his invitation to play, and described the Liverpool fans who packed out the stadium as 'incredible'.

Henry showed he still has his ability, pulling off a deft 'no look' pass from which teammate Ryan Babel should have scored, and embarrassed host Jamie Carragher by nutmegging him.

The goals were scored in the 2-2 draw by Mario Balotelli and Didier Drogba, and two from Gerrard himself.

Funds raised by the game go to supporting various charities within Liverpool's official foundation, and Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

The game allowed former Reds greats like Xabi Alonso and Luis Suarez the chance to return to Anfield, while Fernando Torres was given a rapturous ovation, with his Chelsea stint now behind him.

John Terry, Stewart Downing and Jonjo Shelvey were among those to also feature. Jerome Sinclair, currently on loan at Wigan, was the standout academy star who made the most of his chance to impress.
