How Derby County's squad could look after summer exodus and no new signings

We take a look at what Derby County's squad could look like next season with no new signings and potentially 10 first-team players exiting the club.

Although Derby County are in the hunt for promotion, Steve McClaren could have a big building job ahead of him regardless of what division the Rams are playing in next season.

With six experienced first-team players out of contract - Shaun Barker, Lee Naylor, Mark O'Brien, Tom Naylor, Zak Whitbread and John Eustace - and four players potentially returning to their loan clubs - Omar Mascarell, Darren Bent, Jesse Lingard and Tom Ince - the Rams boss will have to bring new players into the club in the summer or look to promote from the Under-21 team.

Who could leave Derby this summer?

All six players out of contract look unlikely to sign a new deals in the summer regardless of division, while the future of the players on loan could depend on promotion to the Premier League. Bent, who is out of contract in the summer, will be available but may wait to see if the Rams are promoted or whether a Premier League side registers an interest before deciding his future.

Elsewhere, Conor Sammon's future at the club looks bleak after two consecutive loan moves to divisional rivals this season. However, with year left on his deal, it would mean the East Midlands club finding a buyer for the Republic of Ireland international.

Who could be promoted to the Derby first team this summer?

Jamie Hanson's emergence into the first-team in recent weeks shows McClaren still has options from his youth team and could look to promote more through in the summer.

Ferrand Rawson, who is currently on loan with Rotherham United, has impressed in the Championship and looks destined for a first-team spot next season, while the likes of Alban Bunjaku, Callum Guy and Tom Koblenz could also look to break through next term after impressing in the U21 Premier League.
